And these unusual events in the neighborhood seem connected to a book (Wanda recently received) called the Druid Tome! The ancient book keeps an evil druid trapped within its pages! But the magical energy of All Hallows' Eve allows Samhain to escape! And suddenly the former avengers are fighting for their lives in their very own living room! Appearance by Jarvis. Cameo appearance by Robert Frank (aka the golden age Whizzer). (Notes: Wanda and the Vision left Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers 211. "Faith of Our Fathers" Script by Bill Mantlo. Pencils by Rick Leonardi. Inks by Ian Akin and Brian Garvey. Cover by Rick Leonardi and Joe Rubinstein. The golden age Whizzer, Robert Frank, visits the Vision and the Scarlet Witch and asks for their help in gaining custody of his son! Frank's son is Nuklo, a radioactive mutant that requires around the clock medical supervision. Wanda knows that Robert Frank is not her real father, but she feels compassion for him and agrees to help. The former avengers and the former member of the All-Winners Squad travel to the hospital to see Nuklo! But unfortunately, they are unaware that the doctor tending to Nuklo is the Whizzer's old WWII-era foe: Isbisa! And Isbisa is not going to let Nuklo leave the hospital nursery... dead or alive! So a desperate and violent battle breaks out... with tragic results. Can anyone save the Whizzer from his past? Final appearance of Robert Frank. Cameo appearances by Quicksilver, Crystal, and Luna. Flashback cameos by Miss America (aka Madeline Frank), and Bova. (Note: The possibility that Robert Frank might be Wanda and Pietro's father was introduced in Giant-Size Avengers (1974) #1 which was also Nuklo's first appearance.) 32 pages. Cover price $0.60.
Vision and the Scarlet Witch (1982 1st Series) #3
"Blood Brothers!" Guest-starring Wonder Man. Script by Bill Mantlo. Pencils by Rick Leonardi. Inks by Ian Akin and Brian Garvey. Cover by Rick Leonardi and Joe Rubinstein. The Vision has collapsed after losing his left arm in the battle against Isbisa last issue! Wanda rushes her husband to the emergency room and alerts the Avengers! The chief doctor determines that the synthezoid avenger needs an energy transfer to live! And Wonder Man's ionic energy would fit the bill! Once Simon arrives, the transfusion begins; and the Avengers leave the hospital. But as shown on the terrifying cover, that was a big mistake! Because a certain scythe-wielding super-villain has learned about the procedure... and come to make sure it fails spectacularly! After the reaper subdues the Scarlet Witch, his twisted goal is within reach! Can the Grim Reaper kill two brothers with one swing (of his scythe)? Avengers Lineup: Captain America, Hawkeye, Iron Man, She-Hulk, Thor, and the Wasp. (Notes: The Grim Reaper previously appeared in the classic Avengers 160.
